This appears to be more relavant given the need for rejuvenating the state chapters. Why not we have this as simple links on the main page itself and make it damn easy to join the chapter. The most important thing to do is to have the members join the chapters and have the contact numbers. Once these are there the IV state chapters could follow up and get the activities rolling with these members.
Bottom line: Have the state chapter joining links on the main page and have it simplified for the members to join very easily ( kind of taking the name, contact number and email and nothing more) later the chapter core could get in touch with them and get the complete profile. A kind of marketing gimmick.

First of all you are on OPT and your status has not yet changed to H1. It will change to H1 in October.
Your company can cancel H1 with or without your knowledge.
Your new employer can transfer your H1 provided you have the receipt number EAC or WAC number.
If I were you, I would first get the receipt number from your employer and then join the new company on OPT. Also if things do not work out this way, you still join the new company as you are eligible for 17 months OPT extension, you can still qualify for next years H1.
Best strategy is to use as much time on OPT as possible because in that case you dont have to pay social security and medicare taxes.

I have couple of questions regarding timeperiod for which I can stay outside US while my I-485 is pending . I had to undergo a re-do surgery of my back in India and was adviced complete bed rest till it heals due to which I am outside US since Jan ending till date
1) Will it effect my GC application as some say its not good to stay more than 180 days outside US continously.
2) I am on H1 status will it be a issue at POE to have gone for this long
3) What docs should I be carrying to awnser questions at POE.Is client letter mandatory or continued employment letter and I797 good

I think most people think immigrants steal their jobs, but the truth is sometimes we struggle to hire a local person and then a foreigner walks in with the skills we need, but we can't hire him. (this is not to say we have not had good quality local people for the job as well)

No, it;s not possible to get the approval letter for H4 in India. It is usually sent to your home address or lawyer's address in US.

to leave to india in jan she dont have stamp in her

if we apply now for the conversion of H1 to H4 can
she leave to india now and can i send that approval

As you can see in my profile, my I-140 is approved and i'm waiting to file for I-485. I just went through a position change within my company via the company lawyer. The way the lawyer explained to me was that he did file a new H1-B petition for the new job and also i did receive my I797-A action notice from USCIS.
The lawyer had to file a new petition (I-129) based upon my approved I-140 and the most importatn action during this process was to phrase the job description in a way that the new job description was more than 90 percent the same as the I-140.
Moreover, the thing i'm nervous about is that no AC-21 was filed in my case. The lawyer did mention that there is no need to file AC-21 as i have not reached into the I-485 stage and that AC-21 is only applicable after the fact that I-485 has been filed.
Hopefully, my experience clears a few things for your case. You can PM in case you want additional details.

I recently found a new job and they filed for my H1 transfer in premium processing. I am still working for my old employer. Now I have got an RFE questioning why my salary (in 2009 W2) which is less than what was mentioned in my previous petition. Even though I have all my paystubs I was on bench for few months between march - may 2009. I have a leave letter for 4 weeks vacation in may and my salary was reduced when I got new project. Which explains why it is less but may not be enough to prove it to USCIS. Salary in W2 could also be less that prevailing wage. Right now I have following scenarios
1. WIthdraw application - not sure repurcussion of this.
2. Respond to RFE with mentioned reason which can have following outcomes
a) Appoved - (good i will be more than happy)
b) Approved with consular processing - (I dont want to travel at this point of time outside US)
c) denied - (not sure)
3. This case goes to DOL and there may be investigation or indent of revoke sent to my employer. Can this happen?
Here are my questions
1. Senario 2.b. If I get "Approved with consular processing" do I have to travel to India for stamping immediately or just get new I94? What will be my current status then? What if I decide not to join the new employer?

Will IV assist in legal non employment based GC application?
or is IV only active in employment based GC issues?

My wife is on H4 and she is studying Masters and we already have EAD. She would like to do Internship and she still has 6 months to graduation and my question is
1) Is there any time restrictions for people to do internship (with GC based EAD)
2) After graduation, can she still continue with her internship (using EAD ofcourse) ?
3) If Yes for question 2, then for how long after graduation she can be an intern

I am trying to get a green card for the US. My parents are from east asia and I was born in Canada. I went to University in Maryland from 1992-96 and obtained my dental license. I am licensed in the US and intend to purchase a dental office soon. I will still be keeping my dental office in Canada for at least 1 year once I am able to work in the US. I heard about a investment visa however I am not investing more than $400k but it will employ at least 4 US nationals(ctizens). Can I still use the investment visa or can I get a visa for opening a secondary dental office in the US and still keep my existing office in Canada until I qualify for a green card. So don't go for the route, to file for him as her depenant. This will make everything screwup.
Many people entered after their GC approval.
u cannot use Canada PR to enter US. If he left US without AP then his application for adjustment of status is considered abandoned.
